My Lemon Poppy Seed Bundt Cake recipe has a delicate crumb texture accented by a tangy-sweet lemony glaze and the crunch of the poppy seeds. It’s a special treat for tea time or any time of the day!
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- zest from 2 lemons
- juice from 1 lemon
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions

Oil and flour your bundt pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat butter and sugar together in a medium-sized mixing bowl until fluffy. Add in eggs and vanilla and beat well. Add in remaining ingredients and beat until completely combined. Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, until cooked through. Remove from oven and set on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from pan and continue to cool on the wire rack. Drizzle with glaze, once cooled. Glaze 1 cup powdered sugar 2 Tablespoons lemon juice Whisk together until smooth. Cover until ready to use. |

I bounced through the first years of my life in a hippie gypsy wagon, hand-built by my father, wandering the back roads of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. My family eventually settled into a tiny cabin in the woods on property that was once inhabited by Native American Indians.
I spent my childhood days searching for arrowheads, teaching myself to sew on a treadle sewing machine and to bake in a wood-burning stove, with no running water, refrigeration, or electricity in our home. My family lived frugally and early on, inspired by my parent’s thriftiness and style, I gained a knack for thrifty creativity and turning ordinary objects into something useful. And I dreamed of the home I would create for my own family someday.
Now I’m married to my husband, Colin, and our children are all grown. After 24 years of producing The Farm Chicks Vintage & Handmade Fair, I'm spending time visiting other markets around the world. You can watch episodes of Serena Goes to Market here.
