These tasty little treats “tree-ts” Christmas cookies are a fun adaptation of our family’s Sweetie Pies recipe. And although they’re dusted with powdered sugar, they’re actually not overly sweet, which is a nice change of pace during the holidays when things can be overly sugary. And the list of ingredients is pretty simple: Pie Crust, Jam, A Beaten Egg, and Powdered Sugar.

To get started, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Farenheit. Roll out pie crust on a floured surface to about 1/8″ thick. Press tree cookie cutter into crust and place 1/2 of the trees onto an oiled (or parchment-lined) baking sheet. Place a small dollop of jam on each tree on the baking sheet, keeping jam away from the edges of the trees. Brush a small amount of beaten egg yolk along the edges of the trees.

Cut lines into remaining trees and place on top of jam covered trees, gently pressing all along the edges to seal.

Some jam will squish through the edges, and that’s okay. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until lightly golden brown.

Some of the jam will ooze out the sides while baking, so don’t be alarmed. Using a spatula, remove the hot trees from the baking sheet and place on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Once cool, dust with powdered sugar and serve.

Want to get fancy? Line serving trays with cinnamon sticks and arrange trees on top. Not only will they look darling, they’ll pick up a slight cinnamon-like flavor.  A real “tree-t”!

IT'S ME, SERENA!

In 2002, I was dreaming of creating a fun and happy little event to sell my vintage and handmade goods. In 2002, I held my first event in my neighbor's barn along with a handful of friends. The sale became wildly popular and began attracting visitors from across the country and recognition in national magazines. Today The Farm Chicks Vintage & Handmade Fair fills the Spokane County Fairgrounds and features hundreds of creatively and carefully curated spaces packed with vintage and handmade goods. Many describe it as a bucket list event, magical, inspirational, and the best event of its kind in the USA. I describe it as the best weekend of the year!
